Cape May County is NJ's southernmost county — a peninsula bordered by the Atlantic on the east, Delaware Bay on the west, and stretching 30 miles from the southern tip at Cape May Point. The county is one of America's most architecturally significant historic shore destinations, with Cape May's 1880s Victorian Historic District designated a National Historic Landmark. Cape May (the city) is the historic anchor — 600+ Victorian-era houses preserved across the National Historic Landmark district, with the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts and Cape May MAC overseeing preservation. Stone Harbor, Avalon, and Sea Isle City are premium beach communities with strict zoning and the most stringent coastal-spec requirements in NJ.
